When in 1946 George Formby played to black audiences in to-be apartheid South Africa and refused to play segregated venues he was called by the-then premier Daniel Malan personally, who complained and who wished to make of him demands. Formby’s wife Beryl Ingham (who took the call) is reputed to have replied, “Why don’t you piss off you horrible little man?”
Turned out nice again!
